Preparation of expanded perlite from perlite ore of Miyaneh and its application in removal of organic dye from aqueous solution

In this work, the expanded perlite as an adsorbent was prepared from perlite ore of Miyaneh. The removal of organic dye methyl orange (MO) from aqueous solution by adsorption process onto the expanded perlite (EP) was done [1]. The effective parameters on removal of MO by adsorption process, which included the amount of EP (m), initial concentration of MO (C0), contact time, pH and temperature (T), were investigated. It was found that the content of adsorption followed decreasing order: m=0.8>0.6>0.4>0.2>0.1 g, C0=125>100>75>50>25 mg.l-1, pH=5>6>7>8>9 and T=5>15>25>35>45 oC.
