EFFECT OF METHYL JASMONATE AND MEDIA CULTURE ON EMOUNT OF HYPERICIN IN HYPERICUM PERFORATUM

From the past Hypericum perforatum was used as a medicinal plant with several medicinal effects like anti- deppresent, anti- inflamatory, anti-pain and anti-oxidant [1]. Invitro culture of medicinal plants was provided a possibility to prodact medicinal supply and utilization of elicitors is one of the Strategies for enhancement of secoundry metabolits in this plant [2]. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of methyl jasmonate with various concentration (0, 300,600,900 (μM)) and culture Media (MS and B5 (50% , 100%)) on Hypericum perforatum in in-vitro culture conditions. The seeds sterilized by 70% ethanol and sodium hypochlorite (50%), and then were cultured in different culture media. Experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with three replications. Methyl jasmonate treatments were applied (by spraying) after 40 days. Fourteen days after the treatments, hypericin concentration was measured. The results showed that There was significant interaction between mediums and methyl jasmonate on Hypericin concentration. Our results showed that the response of Hypericum perforatum to methyl jasmonate in MS medium is better than B5 [1, 2].
