Relationship between clinical Risk Management in hospitals (Based On NHS QIS Standard) & Claims amount

Due to the importance of patient safety and increasing trend of legal claims and complaints, the hospitals’ and medical community’s managers should focus on the role of clinical risk management in order to improve the quality of treatments and reduce the medical damages claims. This study investigates the relationship between clinical risk management and reduction of the medical damages claims.This study is of descriptive correlation research applying the Likert scale questionnaire distributed among the clinical governance team of Tehran’s state hospitals. The sample size was calculated within Cochran formula and proportional stratified sampling method; and confirmatory factor analysis using Smart PLS3 software was applied to assess the validity of the results and the indicators with the factor loading less than 0.5 were excluded. Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.906 which indicated the high reliability of the questionnaire. In the paper data were analyzed by SPSS19 software and one-sample T-test.The relation between clinical risk management indicators and reduction of damages claims was verified and findings resulted from the study indicated the significant relationship between clinical risk management indicators and reduction of damages claims and complaints
