Susceptibility pattern of Nitrofurantoin, Amikacin and Cefepime among ESBL-producing E.coli isolated from urinary tract infections (UTI)

Emerging ESBL resistance has left limited options for the treatment of ESBL-EC cystitis. There is a worrying global heath issue as infections caused by such enzyme-producing organisms are associated with a higher morbidity and mortality. Updated understanding of susceptibility pattern of this organism provides useful information with the best treatment options. The aim of this study is to compare susceptibility pattern of the recommended antibiotics in treatment of ESBL-EC isolates from patients referred to Massoud laboratory in Tehran.
