The Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthosis

The D.A.F.O provide a intimate contact by wrapping around the entire foot contoured brace verry thin and flexible at the upper part of the orthosis and a platform like insole sensorimotrice slightly thicker at the bottom. At the molding time we must correct the ankle- foot in anatomical axis correcting all deformity.The trim line of this orthosis allow the mobility of the ankle keeping the foot verticaly .This flexibility provide a good process of the gait pattern. A DAFO can be used as therapy device that allows a child with motor development delays to quickly improve his postural control, balance and gait pattern.It give mild mechanical support, sensorimotrice and proprioceptive feedback to children with neurological anormalities. We have to notice that all the reports are descriptive and observational on the benefits on the DAFO in treating neurological and development disorders. Till today there is paucity of scientific data regarding the effectiveness of the DAFO.
