چکیده مقاله:

Iran is located in an area of the world where every year hundreds of earthquakes occur around it. One of the main causes for high number human losses notwithstanding the stability of the structural system is unsafe infill walls with inadequate connections to the structural elements. In this paper, modeling, analysis and design of a new ribbed infill wall has investigated. The first idea was proposed by the fourth author as a new invention, and subsequently, the technical calculation was implemented thoroughly by Farapishgam Consulting Engineers. The new infill wall does not need any mortar and is usable in every weather conditions. In addition to the safe and adequate connections, analysis has shown that the new infill is anticipated to suffer light damages during seismic attacks. The Finite Element model of the block and wall system was created in SAP2000 analysis platform. Loading and analyzing was implemented according to ASCE7-10 code and also the draft of 4th edition of Iranian seismic design code (Standard No. 2800 as a guide). The analysis and design results are satisfactory and the system is considered to be a suitable choice in in-situ as well as in precast construction.
