Geological-Geotechnical Classification of Sanandaj

The city of Sanandaj is on Cretaceous rocks and Quaternary alluvium. For civil engineering works, It is necessary to identify the geotechnical parameters of these rocks and soil layers. In this study, the types of geological layers of Sanandaj were assessed and classified. The results of previous investigation carried out on the engineering characteristics of 211 borehole in Sanandaj area, were used to determine geotechnical parameters of layers. In order to increase of accuracy of the assessments and conclusions, 7 trial pits were excavated in different locations of Sanandaj, and a series of laboratory tests were carried out on the sample. Finally a geological-geotechnical classification was presented for the soil of Sanandaj.
