چکیده مقاله:
Myelin formed by oligodendrocytes (OLs) in the CNS; sheathes axons to help rapid neural signaling. Failure inmyelination or myelin repair lead to persistence of demyelination and consequently in diseases like multiplesclerosis (MS). MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of short non-coding RNAs with 22 nucleotides, regulatebiological processes by blocking translation of mRNAs. MiRNAs are involve in oligodendrogenesis and arecritical for CNS myelination. By inhibition of oligodendrocytes differentiation inhibitors, microRNAs controlmyelin genesis in OLs. Therefore miRNAs can enhance myelin restoration. In this review we discuss thetherapeutic role of miRNAs as drug for myelin repair in multiple sclerosis.
