چکیده مقاله:

Hydrodynamics of semi-cylindrical and cylindrical fluidized beds were investigated by analyzing pressure fluctuations in time and frequency domains. Experiments were conducted in two fluidized beds of 0.14 cm in diameter with two different cross-sections (semi-circular and circular) at ambient condition. Both beds were filled with glass beads particles (average size of 450 µm) and the superficial gas velocity was varied in the range of 0.2-1.4 m/s. Pressure fluctuations were analyzed using the standard deviation and the power spectral density function (PSDF). Standard deviation of pressure fluctuations indicated that the cross-section of the bed do not affect the minimum fluidization velocity and transition velocity from bubbling to turbulent regime . PSDFs showed that increasing the superficial gas velocity results in increases of the number and size of bubbles in the semi-cylindrical bed. However, at high superficial gas velocity, the number of large bubbles in the semi-cylindrical bed is greater than that in the cylindrical bed.
