چکیده مقاله:

In this work, the removal of carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide/methane mixture by a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process was studied. The adsorption process for three types of adsorbents including zeolite 13X, activated carbon and UTSA-16 MOF was studied. First, the adsorption of CO2 on three adsorbents in a single adsorption column was simulated and the best adsorbent was selected. Then, the PSA process was investigated for the best selected adsorbent. All the simulations were done in the Aspen Adsorption v8.8 and the PSA process includes 4 beds and 8 steps. Operating conditions were assumed to be temperature of 300 K, and pressures of 2.5 and 5 bar. The results showed that Zeolite 13X has more adsorption capacity of CO2 than both activated carbon and UTSA-16 MOF. Also, zeolite 13X in the PSA cycle has the best performance and the methane product with the purity of 99.99 mole% can be produced.
