A Comprehensive Review of Optimization of Acidizing in Sandstone/Carbonate Reservoirs

Acidizing as a well stimulation method is widely accepted in petroleum industry.This method is only used to remove damage caused by drilling mud, completionand perforation; not for permeability enhancement of the reservoir. Similar toother methods, some scientific and operational remarks must be considered tooptimize the process. For this purpose, some techniques, achieved fromexperimental, modeling and field works, have been proposed in literature inorder to optimize the acidizing process in both sandstone and carbonatereservoirs. This paper describes these techniques together with their strengthsand weaknesses to help service companies to accomplish acidizing in the bestmanner.
