چکیده مقاله:

Instability due to total hip arthroplasty (THA) is an infelicitously prevalent andserious issue, which needs assessment and preoperative planning before surgicalintervention. Prevention through optimal index surgery is of great importance, asthe management of an unstable THA is challenging even for an experienced jointssurgeon. However, even after well-planned surgery, a significant incidence ofrecurrent instability still exists. Non-operative management is often successful if thecomponents are well-fixed and correctly positioned in the absence of neurocognitivedisorders. If conservative management fails, surgical options include revision ofmalpositioned components; exchange of modular components such as the femoralhead and acetabular liner; bipolar arthroplasty; tripolar arthroplasty; use of a largerfemoral head; use of a constrained liner; soft tissue reinforcement and advancementof the greater trochanter.
