In several studies the role of physical activity in improving quality of life, physical functioning and weight loss has been approved. In other hand Researches have shown that musculoskeletal disorders are among the most important occupational problems; therefore, many efforts have been done to control and reduce it. Since the Sedentary lifestyle is one of the risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders; The aim of this study was to evaluate level of physical activity and frequency of musculoskeletal disorders among dentists in Ahvaz city. Methods: 80 dentists from Ahwaz participated in this cross-sectional study. Physical activity was evaluated by the standard Beck Questionnaire, that consisted of 16 questions in which Three sections: physical activity, leisure activities, sports and physical activity related to the occupation. Nordic questionnaire was used to assess the frequency of work-related musculoskeletal complaints. Data were analyzed with SPSS18. Results: Mean age of dentists was 39.17 ± 7.50 (range: 29-51) years. Mean working duration per day 7.21 (range: 5-9.50) hours. Regarding the level of physical activity, 79% of Dentistswere inactive and 21% active. The results of active individuals, 85% performed light, 11% moderate and 4% sever physical activity. Respectively subjects had experienced pain and discomfort in areas in the last 12 months. Neck 51.25%, shoulder 15%, elbow 3%, wrist 33.75%, upper back 7.5%, lower back 43.75%, leg and tights 0%, knee 13.75%, ankle 2.5%. Among all musculoskeletal disorders, pain in the low back and neck area was more common. Conclusion: This study showed that the level of physical activity was not sufficient among dentists and musculoskeletal disorders were more frequent in the upper and lower parts of the spine regions.
