چکیده مقاله:

The main method to control insect pest is using synthetic pesticides, but the development of insectresistance to this products, the high operational cost and environmental pollution have created the need fordeveloping alternative approaches to control many insects pest, and in this sense the plant extract are analternative to control many insects. In this study, the insecticidal properties of ethanolic extracts derived fromleaves of Artemisia herba-alba (Compositae), Rosemarinus officinalis L. (Labiateae) and Thymus vulgaris L.(Lamiaceae) were tested against 1-7 days old adults of the Confused flour beetle, Tribolium confusumJacquelin du Val.(Col: Tenebrionidae). Bioassays were carried out at 27±1 ºC and 60 ± 5% R. H. under darkcondition adopting a complete randomized block design with five concentrations of essential oil were testedin four replications with 20 adult insect in each replication. Mortality of adults was recorded at 24 h. TheLC50 values estimated for Artemisia herba-alba, Rosemarinus officinalis L. and Thymus vulgaris were 169.1,102.75 and 140.96 μl/L air, respectively. LC95 value calculated 452.6, 198.57 and 272.5 μl/L air, respectively.A direct relationship between mortality rate and dose was detected. The findings of current study suggest thatplant extracts could also be used as insecticide against the stored product pests.
