چکیده مقاله:

The midgut protease and amylase activity and stability from Pieris brassicae (Linnaeus) larva werestudied under laboratory conditions (25±1˚C, 65±5% R.H., and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L: D) h). The firstinstar larvae of P. brassicae were collected from kohlrabi fields in the suburb of Ardabil. The insectswere reared under laboratory conditions, and then the last larval instars were selected for midgutdissection. Proteolytic and amylolytic activities were determined using the substrates azocasein andstarch, respectively. The optimum pH for protease and amylase activity was detected in 10 and 8,respectively. Examination of the enzyme activity at various temperatures revealed optimal activity forprotease at 37˚C, while maximum amylase activity was observed at 40˚C. In the neutral pH, both of theenzymes showed the highest stability. The results of protease stability at four temperature conditions (4,24, 34 and 44˚C) during four days showed that the highest stability of proteases (about 58%) was detectedat 4˚C in the last day.
