چکیده مقاله:

Post-cesarean pain and anxiety is associated with several complications and it is very important for maternal and neonatal health care and breastfeeding. Some Studies have shown that there is a relationship between some psychological factors with pain. So, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between maternal perfectionism with post-cesarean pain and anxiety. Methods and Materials: This correlation study was conducted on 70 pregnant women who had eligible for the study and referred to Mashhad Omolbanin hospital for elective caesarean section in 2015. Sampling was accessible on women who had eligible for the study. To assess perfectionism and preoperative anxiety, 2-3 hours before surgery, the patients completed Perfectionism Ahvaz Scale and Spielberger questionnaire. Anxiety was evaluated 2 hours after surgery by Spielberger questionnaire and pain was measured by short form of mcgill pain questionnaire SF-MPQ and visual analogue scale. Data were analyzed by SPSS software (version 16), Chi-square, Spearman and Pearson correlation tests. P< 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The results showed that significant correlation was found between perfectionism score with preoperative state (r=0.41 ,P=0.001) and trait anxiety (r=0.51 , P<0.001) and postoperative state anxiety (r=0.43 ,P=0.001). Although, significant correlation was observed between perfectionism score and sensory dimension of SF-MPQ(r=0.31, P=0.017), but there was no significant correlation with emotional dimension of SF-MPQ(r = 0.14 p = 0.319(. Also significant correlation was observed between postoperative state anxiety and postoperative pain (r=0.44 ,P=0.001).Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between perfectionism with post-cesarean pain and anxiety. Therefore, paying attention to the level of perfectionism in mothers as part of their mental health can be considered as a way to better and more effectively post cesarean pain control.
