A Survey on the Satisfaction of Pregnant Mothers with Unwanted Pregnancy from Perinatal Care in Selected hospital of Shiraz

Background: Purpose of this study is to provide essential midwifery care that is a primary part of nursing programs. Patient satisfaction with received care is essential because it is only in this way that the patient accepts and follows the treatment recommendations and often encourages others to take advantage of it. Methods: In this analytical cross-sectional study (2018), 84 women of reproductive age participated who referred to health centers of Hafez and Shooshtari in Shiraz. Demographic Characteristics questionnaire, Fertility questionnaire and Informed Consent form were used for data collection. Findings: The study findings showed that 43.2% of pregnant women in Hafez hospital could easily raise their problems with their doctor or midwife, but 2.3% expressed dissatisfaction. In Shooshtari hospital, 52.3% were satisfied with their pregnancy and 2.3% were dissatisfied. With careful consideration of the statements expressed by mothers, 43.8% of the mothers in Hafez hospital were satisfied and 2.1% expressed dissatisfaction while in Shooshtari hospital 47.9% of mothers were satisfied and 2.1% were dissatisfied. Based on the communications and explanation provided by the medical team, 44.9% of the mothers of the Hafez hospital were satisfied and 2% were dissatisfied. In Shooshtari hospital, 46.9% were satisfied and 1% was dissatisfied. All mothers in the Hafez hospital stated that the pregnancy examinations and the follow-up of the problems of the previous month were carefully performed in each visit and there was no dissatisfaction. In Shooshtari hospital, 48% of mothers were satisfied. In Hafez hospital, 44.9% of the mothers were satisfied with the behavior of the physician and midwife, 2% were dissatisfied while in Shooshtari hospital, 46.9% of mothers were satisfied and 2% were dissatisfied. In terms of taking the time to conduct the examination without hurry, 41.5% of the mothers were satisfied and 2.4% were dissatisfied in Hafez hospital while 51.2% were satisfied and 2.4% were dissatisfied in Shoshtari hospital. Conclusion: Findings indicated the satisfaction of pregnant mothers with perinatal care in the two investigated hospitals. Considering the importance of the issue, it is expected to consider the need for paying attention to the medical team and their appreciation.
