STUDY OF bitumen composites of POLYACRYLAMIDE USE IN asphalt industry: wide temperature range performance

This article describes the physical behavior of polyacrylamide in polymer modified bitumen composites. Polyacrylamide is a long chain molecule with applications in waste water treatment, soil conditioner, and Enhanced Oil Recovery. High viscosity bitumen composites can be generated with low concentrations of polyacrylamide polymers, and these composites alongside proper plasticizers can be used in asphalt industry as wide temperature range binders. Adding polyacrylamide to different grades of bitumen plus Petroleum vacuum slops, aromatic oils and chlorinated paraffin wax as Plasticizers have shown different physical and rheological properties. The results confirm that the chlorinated wax has shown superior capability in improving low temperature properties of bitumen binders while maintaining the viscosity of binder in the acceptable range set by adding polyacrylamide polymer
