THE INCREASING SIGNIFICANCE OF COMPUTER AIDED ENGINEERING TO THE DESIGN OF ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS OF HIGH VOLTAGE SWITCHGEAR

For many years CAD-systems (Computer Aided Design) are used for the design of electrical diagrams of high-voltage switchgear. There are a lot of good experiences in quality and modifying of drawings and the quickness of working by this method. Because of this and in order to increase the efficiency the original CAD-systems were extended by automatical evaluation programs. The result is the development of CAE-systems (Computer Aided Engineering), which support the performance of the logical connections between individual electrical diagrams and the design of special drawings, e.g. wiring or equipment explanation diagrams. The paper presented here describes the actual state of development of one of the leading CAE-systems in this field. Furthermore the increasing importance of standardization to the application of CAE-systems is discussed.
