PREDICTION OF ARC FURNACE FLICKER AT POINT OF COMMON COUPLING

Due to the f ast development of steel industry in IRAN, the importance of investigation of the effects produccd by EAF' s are recognized. Since voltage Flicker affcts the protective & Communication systems in interconnected network and other loads supplied by PCC, the pridiction of these effects & finding suitable busbar for supplying these plants are necessary . In this paper , First we present the standards and methods in use for Flicker evaluation and introduce the new method for prediction purpose, second , the benefits of using synchronous condensers instead of generating plant is demonstrated.
