Study of Parallel-Resonance Fault Current Limiter with Thyristor Switch & its effect on technical characteristics of Circuit Breakers

This paper presents a fault current limiter based on parallel resonant LC circuit . The operation of this fault current limiter in 20 kV distribution network, which is exposed to single-phase & three-phase faults , has been simulated with ATP software . Also, the effect of this fault current limiter on recovery voltage of circuit breaker is investigated . The recovery voltage of 1.5 , 8 and 11 cycles circuit breakers is analyzed in a given benchmark before and after applying FCL
