Revising The Design of Existing 230 kv D.C. Transmission Lines in Iran

Reducing the weight of towers in Transmission Lines have taken the care of designers, suppliers and users of this structures.In our country presence of some special conditions same as: absence of research and development departments near production units and not correct calculation of production and raw material costs, have been caused, the supplying of some towers that have'nt economic designs, to be continued.Whereas even with keeping loading capabilities and outlines of initial design, we can reduce the weight of this towers, only by using good design programms and knowledge of behavour of steel structures.This paper tries to show that the weight of the existing towers of 230 kv D.C. Trans. lines will be reduced minimum 10% even with considering mentioned limits.
