چکیده مقاله:

Throughout the history of humanity, civilizations have risen and fallen in the pursuit of perfection. In every age, we see that there is an image of the ideal man. During the Renaissance for example, the ideal man was absolutely free, able to do whatever he wished provided that he was well brought up and had a passion for learning. Whereas in the 17th century, the vision changed to one that obeyed the rules and controlled his emotions. Regardless of this changing image, we can see commonalities across the differing cultures as to what this picture should look like. In Islam, perfection is embodied in the personages of the fourteen masumeen, the Ahlul Bayt. Their defining characteristic is that they are free from all sin. But that is not all. They are the examples of comportment and etiquette between human beings. Prophet Muhammad (SAAW) said: ‘I have not been sent except to perfect noble character’. This is a difficult status to attain indeed, and that is why they are so prized in our eyes. But how can ordinary individuals reach this level The Almighty Allah (SWT), in His Compassion and Mercy, has sent thousands of prophets and many books to humans, all with one aim. The aim is to bring us closer to Him; the absolute, loving, perfect being. These books, if used properly and heeded well, will help people realize their potential for reaching perfection. But none of the books have been as protected as the Holy Quran. In it are numerous paraphrases of admonitions, rewards, and advice. However, one of the most explicit directions towards perfection can be found in Surah an-Naba’ (chapter 78) in the Holy Quran. This surah lists in chronological order the building blocks towards human perfection. This paper will analyze this Surah, comparing it with the modern theory of Maslow s hierarchy of needs on this subject. The subject being: features of the perfect human being in the Quran along with a study of examples. It is the author’s hope to shed some light on this remarkable Guide to Perfection, which is known as the Holy Quran.JEL classification: I2Methodology of research: Comparative researchConsequences: By drawing comparisons between the Holy Quran and modern theory, insight can be gained on the validity of a theory which is in widespread use.
