The Effect of Social Class on the Language Use by People of Gorgan

Defined as the study of language and linguistic behavior as influenced by social and cultural factors, sociolinguistics deals with the effects of social class on language use. Social class is a division of society according to status; rank or grade of that society that is one of the important factors that influences the way people speak as differences in language they use are closely related to their social class. The purpose of the present study is to examine the social class differences of people and their use of language in Gorgan, Golestan province. This is a socio-culturallinguistic study that intendsto conduct an investigation into the necessity of work on the study of this field.A brief description related to this qualitative descriptivestudy onthe social class differences and language use in Gorgan will be prepared.The findings of the study can prepare the way for those like working on sociolinguistics and the development of linguistic studies in different parts of Iran
