This paper deals with quantitative accuracy assessmentof MELCOR code capability to predict Thermal-Hydraulic (TH) response of PSB-VVER Integral TestFacility (ITF) during Station Black-Out (SBO) accident.The PSB-VVER is a full-height, 1:300 volume andpower scale representation of a VVER-1000 nuclearpower plant and has been widely used in validation ofTH codes for VVER-1000 applications. A MELCORnodalization has been developed for modeling SBOaccident in PSB-VVER ITF and Fast Fourier TransformBased Method (FFTBM) method has been used to assessthe code prediction with experimental data. The FFTBMhas been widely applied to a number of comparisonsinvolving separate and integral test facilities experiments.The FFTBM shows the measurement–predictiondiscrepancies (accuracy quantification) in the frequencydomain. For accuracy quantification of MELCORpredictions for SBO accident, the FFTBM was applied to28 selected TH variables. It is observed that there is agood agreement between MELCOR predictions andPSB-VVER measured data, and results of quantitativeanalysis are in acceptable range of quality for most of theparameters.
