Maintenance scheduling of generating Units is one of the most important measurements in power system planning which highly influences the system’s security and economic performance. The main goal of this planning, which should be done periodically, is to make sure that generating units work in their normal situations, and by declining their failures, to increase their life duration. Such planning not only brings about economic benefits, but also improves reliability of the system. In this paper, a new generator random outage model for Risk-based monthly maintenance scheduling is presented which tries to meet the mentioned desires. At first, reasons for presenting a time varying model in monthly maintenance scheduling is discussed. Then, a new outage model is proposed which accommodate the scenario in which a force outage happens before maintenance for scheduled unit. Finally, some numerical tests on risk-based monthly generator maintenance scheduling are given that illustrate the accuracy of the suggested outage model.
