چکیده مقاله:

Biomedical, rehabilitation, biomedical engineering and behavioral sciences continuously add to our understanding of how robotics can be used in rehabilitation. The field of rehabilitation robotics is ever expanding. New research is leading to the creation of new devices and technologies each year. In order to predict how the future of this field will be shaped, one has to examine the devices of today. By looking at the present day devices it is possible to determine the focus of the field as well as the technologies being currently used and in development. These technologies are the most critical aspect when predicting future devices. Even when the devices become obsolete the technologies that made them will continue to evolve, or at least be used to further improve and inspire the creation of new technologies. This article is organized to discuss and analyze the recent developments in the field of rehabilitation robotics, their applications and potential future, by methods of futures studies.From the research gathered it is easy to see that the field of rehabilitation robotics is quite vast, even when narrowed down and focused on specific types of devices. In order to analyze these devices at a more useful level, and make meaningful projections as to the future of some of these technologies used, they need to be broken down into smaller categories and each looked at more closely. Each category will be given a ranking based on a number of criteria, and on the basis of those rankings, projections will be made as which technologies are most successful today and most likely to be the basis of future development. The technologies that make these devices possible have opened the door to a new world of possibilities. People will be able to regain the functions that they have lost with the help of rehabilitation robotics. The future of rehabilitation robotics is promising, with a number of technologies in development which promise even more efficient and groundbreaking results
