چکیده مقاله:

Objectives: To evaluate the distance between posterior teeth and the maxillary sinus floor by using a Cone-Beam CT (CBCT). Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study evaluated 35 CBCT radiographs from patients over 20 years of age who attended a private oral and maxillofacial radiology clinic in Rafsanjan for dentistry procedures. The CBCT imaging was performed. After obtaining multi-planar reformatted images, a maxillofacial radiologist measured the vertical relationships (the shortest distance) between the mesiobuccal, distobuccal, and palatal roots of posterior maxillary teeth and the maxillary sinus floor. Results: The measured vertical distances were classified as types 0, 1, 2. The high resolution CBCT images could well differentiate the different vertical distances in our patient sample compared to conventional imaging modalities used in this field. Conclusion: Clinicians are recommended to use CBCT to obtain adequate knowledge of the anatomy and morphological details of tooth roots before any treatments, especially surgical procedures
