The Effect of Sex on Acoustic Dissimilation in Colloquial Persian

In the present article, 10 individuals participated in a study of dissimilated sounds in order to examine the effect of sex on acoustic dissimilation in colloquial Persian. The participants included equalnumbers of males and females and all of them were born in Tehran and only speak in standard Persian as their first language. Each individual articulated a set of Persian words including dissimilation. Statistically, no significant differences were found for sex. These results suggest that there is not a significant relation between the acoustic basis of dissimilation in colloquial Persian on the one hand, and the variable of sex on the other.
