Advancements in Airborne LiDAR Technology and its Applications

Airborne LiDAR technology has been successfully used in engineering, mining and other industries since the 1980s, allowing for more cost effective works and more precise analysis. However, the technology is still rapidly progressing, leading to improvements in acquisition time, accuracy, detail, density and presentation of data that have allowed for cheaper, faster and better quality solutions. Examples from the transmission line industry and infrastructure industry will be discussed to demonstrate these advancements and advantages of airborne LiDAR technology
