Effects of UPFC for Transient Stability Improvment after a Fault in Power Systems

Nowadays, FACTS controllers are among the essentials of power systems. In this paper, one of the FACTS controllers (UPFC) is introduces and studied to improve the transient stability in power networks. So, the size and angle of the output terminal voltage of the existing generators in the network are studied in the two cases with and without UPFC. It is observed that to what extent these mentioned parameters improve in the presence of UPFC. PSAT software was used for simulation and IEEE 14-bus transmission network was used for study.
