The trend of water quality parameters in Karaj river with sustainable outlook

Due to the decline of groundwater resources in recent years and the increased use of surface water resources, paying attention to the water quality of these resources, in order to sustainable development is necessary. Karaj River is one of the most important resources of water for drinking, agriculture and electricity for the city of Tehran. In recent years, several factors have led to a decline in river water quality. In this study, changes in water quality in the two time periods, 1967-1968 and 2008-2009 were examined at two stations. The results show a decline in river water quality to rise in the characteristics such as anions, Cations, EC and TDS during the study period. So, the results should be valuable in maintaining the water resources strict control over the river to prevent contaminants from entering the place and have a sustainable utilization
