Run off pollution during the construction, operation, and maintenance of roads, highways, and bridges contribute measurable amounts of pollutants to our waters. Run off pollution, is created when, debris from construction site, fertilizers, chemicals, automotive oils, soil particles, sediments, and litter arewashed off roadways and bridges during rainstorms, deicing, and carried as run off to streams, rivers, lakes and bays, which can lead to ecological problems. Planning for pollution prevention and control measures in advance of and during construction can help avoid these and other future problems.
