چکیده مقاله:
GC and GC-MS analysis of the isolated essential oils obtained by steam distillation from the flowers, leaves, stems and roots (separately) of H. helianthemoides, known to has medicinal activity, resulted in the identification 49to 56 constituents (93.3 to 99.2% of the total oils), also essential oils yield of dried different part of plant obtainedranged from 0.08 to 0.20%w/w.While sesquiterpene hydrocarbons fraction (35.9 to 37.9%) were predominantcomponent, oxygenated monoterpenes (27.2 to 34.8%) were in second rank. α-Pinene, 1, 8-cineole, linalool, lavandulol, thymol, carvacrol,γ-elemene, allo-aromadendrene,α-amorphene, germacrene D, β-selinene, γ-cadinene, caryophyllene oxide, α-phellandrene, spathulenol, (E)-caryophyllene, (Z)-β-caryophyllene, germacrene D, β-Thujone, camphor, camphene and α-guaiene, were the major constituents in oils of flower, leaf, stem and root.Based on amounts of constituents, the chemotype of four parts of H. helianthemoides determined;essential oils fromflower and root belongs to pinene chemotype, while leaf and stem oils belong to caryophyllene chemotype. In vitro antimicrobial activity of essential oil and methanolic extract of aerial part of H. helianthemoides were investigated against seven strains of bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative) by disc diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) determination. The studied oils and extract were active against gram (+/-) bacteria, but they exhibited higher activities against the gram (-) testedbacterial strains. The maximum antimicrobial activity was shown by methanolic extract, as compare to essential oils
