Background: Nowadays, with the advancement of science and innovation in assisted reproductive technologies has opened a hope for the treatment of infertility. One of the new treatments is the use of oocyte donation. Considering the lack of information on the aspects of oocyte donation, especially the psychological problems associated with this treatment, we aimed to investigate the self-discrepancy of oocyte donors and comparison with fertile women.Method: In this descriptive - analytical study, 53 oocyte donor and fertile women were selected using convenient sampling method. Data gathering tools included two questionnaires; one gathered the demographic information and the other one was self-discrepancy questionnaire. Data was analyzed using SPSS16 software and Chi-square and t-test methods.Results: The results showed that self-meddling of oocytes donors was weaker than fertile women. Based on T-test, There was no significant difference between the two groups in the ideal self-Discrepancy score. (P = 0.227). There was a significant difference between the two groups in the self-ought self-discrepancy (P = 0.06)Conclusion: According to the results of this study, attention to the psychological needs of oocyte donors is an essential part in the process of donating oocytes.Message for policymakers: Since the oocyte donors also shares the treatment process, should benefit from complete awareness and ongoing support before and after treatment. Therefore, authorities should consider measures to assess the psychological dimensions of oocyte donors.
