خلاصه مقاله:
Introduction: Mothers who care for their disabled children often suffer from physical, psychological and social problems caused by bringing up a disabled child. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of comparing the quality of life and resilience of mothers with disabled and healthy children in Fasa in 2017.Methods: The subjects of this cross-sectional study were 240 mothers (120 mothers having disabled children and 120 mothers with healthy children) referring to Fasa State Health Centers and Fasa State Welfare Office. They were randomly selected and included into the study. The data were collected by using World Health Organization Quality-of-Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). The collected data were then analyzed by SPSS22, descriptive statistics, Chi-square, independent t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient at significant value of P <0.05.Results: The mean score of quality of life of mothers with disabled children on such physical, psychological, social and environmental domains was lower than that of mothers with healthy children and statistically significant (p<0.05); however, the mean scores on resilience of mothers in both groups were not significantly different (p=0.43). There was a direct and positive correlation between quality of life and resilience in both groups of mothers with disabled and healthy children (p <0.001).Conclusion: It is imperative that authorities and policy makers on health issues take every step to promote the quality of life and resilience of mothers, especially mothers with disabled and handicapped children through education and provision of comprehensive health services.
