Mismatch refers to the difference between teachers’ intention and learners’ interpretation (Kumaravadivelu, 2003). This study investigated the most frequent types of mismatches at basic level proficiency classes of The Iran Language Institute. Two basic level classes were observed coming to a total of 24.5 hours. 44 students participated in this study ranging in age from 13 to 16 all of whom were males. Results of the study point to the fact that Instructional Mismatch, Cognitive Mismatch, and Linguistic Mismatch were the most occurring ones in order. As a result, teachers must exercise much care when asking students to do tasks by giving enough explanation in addition to the ones already. provided by the book.
