خلاصه مقاله:
Raising awareness is one of the important issues in the realm of teaching methodology. Scholars in different eras have coined different names for that such as noticing hypothesis (Schmidt, ١٩٩٠), and consciousness raising (Rose, ١٩٩٤). This review aims at presenting a comprehensive , detailed review of fifty research articles on the effect of linguistic-based awareness on TOEFL iBT reading module. Findings showed that, linguistic-based awareness raising has a significant effect on TOEFL iBT reading module. The findings suggest that the use of linguistic-based awareness-raising as an approach to teaching reading comprehension can have beneficial effects in language teaching pedagogy and L٢ learning and the variables of proficiency and major need to be taken into consideration in TOEFL iBT instructional programs. The results of the study can be utilized for syllabus designers, materials developers, pedagogists, and educational statisticians engaged in norm- and criterion-referenced tests.
