خلاصه مقاله:
Disinfection of drinking water by chlorination process, produces Trihalomethanes (THMs) which are believed to be carcinogenic. The adsorption onto Granular Activated Carbon effectively removes THMs from drinking water. In this research, we studied the adsorption characteristics of THMs onto GAC in different contact time and at 15 and 25 ºC. On the basis of these studies, various parameters such as surface mass transfer coefficient and effective diffusion coefficient ofTHMs onto GAC were evaluated. It was concluded that the temperature increase, will rise the effective diffusion coefficient while surface mass transfer coefficient will be reduced.
