In order to eliminate Self-excited vibration of the tool the effect of H∞ controller on regenerative chatter instability is investigated for a turning operation. Furthermore, in order to show that the performance of the present control strategy is robust with respect to the variation of the cutting depth, μ-Analysis tests are used for a certain nominal depth of cut and μ-Synthesis for more certainty. The robustness of H∞ method makes it suitable for such a problem with a varying parameter (Depth of cut) in the system. The results indicate that H∞ controller can successfully enhance the stability lobes.
