خلاصه مقاله:
This paper aims to describe computer aided design (CAD), computer aided Manufacturing (CAM), rapid prototyping (RP) systems and techniques for the preoperative planning, design and fabrication of custom-made hip prostheses. For Design and manufacturing of custom-made hip prostheses, the novel methodology based on RP will be presented. Results show that the RP models provided an accurate and useful tool for preoperative, surgical simulation and fabrication of prostheses. Proposed novel methodology has the advantages such as: Excellent preoperative planning, Proper Consultation between the designer and surgeon, Simulation of implantation, Optimal fit and fill in femoral canal and improvement in stability, Improved physiological stress distribution on the proximal femur. Concerning the disadvantages such as time and cost for the prostheses design and need for surgical robot to perform the bone resection and preparing proper femoral canal, RP technologies fabricate the custom-made prostheses quickly and economically.
