خلاصه مقاله:
This study intends to investigate the extent to which the civic education indices (civic knowledge, civic attitudes, and civic skills) have been emphasized in Social sciences textbook for the the sixth grade students. This study is an applied research. In terms of data collection, it is a descriptive research. The data were collected by content analysis method. The statistical population of this study was Social sciences textbook for the sixth grade students. Because of the nature of study and the smallness of statistical population, no sampling was conducted. The whole statistical population was taken as the sample of study. In order to collect the data, the checklist of content analysis, which included civic education indices (knowledge, attitudes, and skills), was used. The instrument (material) of this study enjoyed a high degree of validity and reliability (%92). Each lesson of the textbook was taken as a unit of analysis. All in all, 24 lessons were examined. In order to analyze the data, descriptive methods of data analysis (frequency table, percentage, mean) were used. The obtained results indicated that civic skill index with a frequency of %45 had the highest degree of frequency, and civic attitudes index with a frequency of %25 had the lowest degree of frequency. In other words, in the textbook of Social sciences for the sixth grade students, the maximum focus has been laid on civic skills, followed by civic knowledge and civic attitudes respectively.
