Successful design and simulation of separation units by process simulation softwares rely on accurate phase equilibrium computations using various thermodynamicmodels (equation of state and/or activity coefficient models) that generally contain several empirical parameters. In the common engineering practice, thevalues of these parameters are most of the time adjusted on different sets of experimental data points such asvapor–liquid. The purpose of the present investigation isto evaluate the vapor-liquid equilibrium characteristics of the binary systems contain acetone and water. Theresults of this research show that one parameter margules activity model the constant of which is a function of temperature has good agreement with experimental data
