An efficient and green synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives catalyzed by CuO-CeO2 nanocomposite catalyst in water is reported. A variety of aromatic aldehydes reacted with 4-hydroxycoumarin to afforded the biscoumarin derivatives in good yieldes and short reaction times. The catalyst can be recovered by simple filtration and recycled up to 7 consecutive runs without any loss in its activity
