خلاصه مقاله:
This study is focused on investigating the effect of imperfections on the buckling load of cylindrical shells that is the most important factor in reducing the buckling load of these shells. Such imperfections usually made in construction procedure and assembly of shells. To determine the buckling load, the finite element software ANSYS is used and the material and geometrical nonlinearity considered in all analyses. The analysis is performed by assigning imperfections in various locations of the tank height. Furthermore different ranges of imperfection is considered. The results of nonlinear analysis are compared with the results of the linear eigenvalue analysis. It can be concluded that imperfection reduce the buckling load shell. If the imperfection is placed in the closer to the shell bottom, reduction of buckling load is considerable.
