Tower is the most important component of a transmission line, hence goal is set as to achieve optimum cost and fair reliability through economic designs of a transmission line tower. In doing so, authors give a list of parameters affect ing the construction of transmission line tower such as - Climatic conditions - Terrain factors - Soil parameters - Electrical requirements - Number of circuits - Configuration of circuits - Material technology and so on Impact of these parameters are discussed in depth traditional methods as well as adoption of modern techniques for evaluation of these parameters are presented in this paper.
