خلاصه مقاله:
Some researchers believe that teaching through storytelling can empower students' memory and facilitate learning (Son, 2008). For teachers to make use of narratives in classrooms, they should be familiar with narrative structures in different languages and even with different patterns of narratives within the same language. The aim of this study is to analyse the discourse of three stories in three different languages based on the model proposed by Hatch (1992). The stories were The Ugly Duckling , The Parrot and the Merchant , and The Guardian of the Fountain . To this end, the stories were divided into some sub-sections and analysed line by line. The existing and, consequently, the absent elements within them were then identified. The findings revealed that they were all well-organized and perfectly coherent in narrative structure. It was also revealed that values such as hope, freedom, consultation, and making one's will to achieve a goal were commended in these stories
