In this investigation NiP-TiO2 nano-composite coatings are prepared by electroless method with and without surfactant and their properties are compared with NiP electroless coating. Surface morphology and composition of coatings are studied via SEM and EDX, respectively. Addition of suitable amount of surfactant improves distribution of TiO2 nano-particles which affects composite coating’s properties. XRD analyses confirm the presence of TiO2 nano-particles in composite coatings. Corrosion properties of coatings are tested using linear polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 0.5M sulfuric acid solutions. Results show that NiP-TiO2 electroless composite coatings obtained from electroless bath with addition of surfactant have a higher corrosion resistance than either NiP or NiPTiO2 without using surfactant
