PET or polyester is the most widely used synthetic fiber in textile due to its good physical and chemical properties. PET fibers are dyed with disperse dyes. The dyeing is carried out at high temperature/high pressure or by using carriers at boil temperature, owing to its hydrophobic nature and highly compact molecular structure. In one recent study, a hyperbranched polymer was used to improve the dyeability of fiber grade PET. By this procedure, modified PET fibers were dyed at boil temperature without using carrier.In this study, dyeing properties of compounded fiber grade PET (polyethylene terephthalate) with Hybrane H1500 as a hyperbranched polymer were investigated in terms of their thermodynamic; such as standard affinity (-Δμ⁰), enthalpy change (ΔH⁰) and entropy change (ΔS⁰). This paper presents the influence of hyperbranched polymer on thermodynamic parameters of dyeing compounded PET with disperse dye.Various samples were prepared in an internal mixer at different concentrations of this hyperbranched polymer. Then, fibers were provided by laboratory mixing extruder (LME). Finally the prepared PET and compounded fibers were dyed at the various temperatures without using carrier. C.I. Disperse Blue 60 as a disperse dye was used for dyeing pure and compounded fiber grade PET. The result was compared with corresponding properties of the PET. The -Δμ⁰ of modified PET with hyperbranched polymer showed a higher value than that of pure PET. PET displayed the highest negative values of the ΔH⁰ and the ΔS⁰, while PET + 2% hyperbranched polymer showed the lowest negative values of them
