خلاصه مقاله:
Prostate cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in men worldwide, necessitating theidentification of biomarkers and understanding of molecular mechanisms for improved diagnosisand treatment. Catalase, an antioxidant enzyme involved in maintaining cellular redox balance, hasbeen implicated in various cancers, including prostate cancer. However, its role in prostate cancerremains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated catalase activity in prostate cancer tissuecompared to control tissue. Our results revealed a significant decrease (p < ۰.۰۵) in catalaseactivity in prostate cancer tissue (۶۴ ± ۸ units/ml) compared to control tissue (۱۰۲ ± ۱۳ units/ml),indicating dysregulation of antioxidant defense mechanisms and increased oxidative stress. Alteredcatalase activity may contribute to tumor development and progression through the accumulationof ROS and disruptions in cellular signaling. Catalase activity holds potential as a biomarker forprostate cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response prediction. Targeting catalase orenhancing its activity could be a therapeutic strategy to restore redox balance and inhibit tumorgrowth. Further research is needed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying catalasedysregulation in prostate cancer and its clinical implications.
